These tiny oddballs pack a massive amount of personality into a body no bigger than a marble. While most puffers require massive tanks or brackish setups, these fully freshwater miniatures thrive in smaller planted aquariums. They are incredibly observant and will often hover at the glass to watch you watch them. Just keep in mind that their small size doesn't mean they are pushy-overs; they can be quite territorial, so providing plenty of moss and dense plants helps keep the peace. Their diet is specific, as they generally ignore flakes or pellets in favor of live or frozen bloodworms and small pest snails.

  • Requires a diet focused on frozen or live meaty foods and small snails to keep them healthy.
  • Best kept in a species-only setup or with very quick, short-finned tankmates that won't trigger their nipping instincts.
  • Sensitive to water quality, so frequent small water changes and a well-cycled filter are essential.
  • Native to the Western Ghats of India and prefers a heavily planted environment with low to moderate flow.
