Giant Danio
Giant Danio
Giant Danios are easily distinguishable by their elongated, torpedo-shaped bodies and striking silver-blue coloration. Unlike their smaller cousins, the Zebra Danios, Giant Danios can grow up to 6 inches in length, making them one of the largest species in the Danio genus. These fish are peaceful and social, often seen schooling together in their natural habitat. They thrive in well-planted aquariums with plenty of open swimming space. Giant Danios are omnivores and will consume a variety of foods, including flakes, pellets, and live or frozen insects. What is unique about Giant Danios is that they are common used as dither fish. This means that they are sometimes put with larger, more aggressive fish, like African Cichlids or aggressive American Cichlids, as a fast-moving distraction that will help curb aggression in the tank.
