Clown Kilifish (Epiplatys annulatus)

Known for their striking alternating black and yellow bands, these tiny African pikes are a favorite for nano tank enthusiasts. They spend most of their time hovering just beneath the water surface, hunting for microscopic prey with their upward-facing mouths. Their most stunning feature is arguably the brilliant blue shimmer in their eyes and the torch-like patterns on the males' tails. Because they are quite peaceful and small, they do best in calm, planted setups where they won't be outcompeted for food by larger, faster tank mates.
