Cherry Shrimp

Cherry Shrimp (Neocaridina davidii) are small, colorful crustaceans that have become popular in freshwater aquariums. Native to Taiwan, these shrimp are known for their bright red coloration, although they can also come in blue, green, and yellow varieties.

Cherry Shrimp typically reach a maximum size of about 1 inch. They are omnivores and have a varied diet. They enjoy consuming algae, detritus, and commercially available shrimp food. A balanced diet will help maintain their vibrant colors and overall health.

These shrimp are peaceful and community-oriented. They are known for their lively and playful personalities and can be quite entertaining to watch as they explore the aquarium. They are compatible with most peaceful fish species, but should not be kept with large, aggressive fish or predatory invertebrates.

Cherry Shrimp prefer a well-planted aquarium with a soft substrate. They thrive in a pH range of 6.5 to 7.5 and a temperature between 65-75°F. A gentle current is also beneficial for their health and growth.
